Terms of Service
Last updated: December 2025
Welcome to pdf.sh. By using our website and services, you agree to these terms of service. Please read them carefully.
1. Service Description
pdf.sh provides free online PDF tools including compression, merging, splitting, rotation, conversion, watermarking, signing, and password protection. Most tools process files directly in your browser; some require server-side processing.
All tools are provided free of charge with no premium tiers or hidden fees. Guest users may use compression up to 5 times; creating a free account removes this limit.
2. Acceptable Use
You agree to use pdf.sh only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- Use the service for any illegal activity
- Process documents you don't have rights to modify
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits through automated means
- Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Use the service to distribute malware or malicious files
- Resell or redistribute the service without permission
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for users who violate these terms.
3. Your Files and Content
You retain all rights to files you process through pdf.sh. We do not claim any ownership or rights to your content.
For client-side tools: your files never leave your device. For server-side tools: files are processed temporarily and automatically deleted within 1 hour. We do not access, read, or store the contents of your files beyond what's necessary for processing.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to process any files you upload.
4. Accounts
Creating an account is optional but provides unlimited access to compression features. When you create an account:
- You must provide accurate information
- You are responsible for maintaining account security
- You must notify us of any unauthorized access
- One account per person is permitted
We may suspend or delete accounts that violate these terms or remain inactive for extended periods.
5. Intellectual Property
The pdf.sh website, including its design, code, and branding, is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our website or service without permission.
pdf.sh uses open-source software including Ghostscript (AGPL), pdf-lib (MIT), and pdf.js (Apache 2.0). These components are subject to their respective licenses.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties

We do not warrant that:
- The service will be uninterrupted or error-free
- Results will meet your specific requirements
- All files can be successfully processed

- Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Loss of data, profits, or business opportunities
- Damages resulting from use or inability to use the service
- Damages resulting from unauthorized access to your files
Since the service is provided free of charge, our total liability shall not exceed $0.
8. Indemnification

9. Service Modifications
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time without notice. We may also modify these terms; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
